more practice for theory

frasaco is the first choice worldwide for dental training and further education – something we are proud of. At the same time this drives us to consistently optimize our products and to simulate humans with even greater perfection. This is because we are fully aware that interventions on patients follow learning. The recipe for our success is our claim: there is only one alternative to our phantom heads, jaw and dental models and strip crowns – reality.

The recipe for our success is our claim: there is only one alternative to our phantom heads, jaw and dental models and strip crowns – reality.

Toward the future with tradition

The frasaco GmbH was founded in 1921 by Franz Sachs, a dentist, and is now a globally operating company. At the time, he was considered a very progressive-minded dentist, and was instrumental in the development and fabrication of the first marketable mixed-dentition prosthesis made from Hekolit.

The nineteen-thirties saw the introduction of the first dental practice models with exchangeable teeth, which were used in universities and training centers for dental practitioners and technicians. This made practical training and the learning of preparation and filling techniques possible. The first dummy-head tutorial models, known today under the name phantom head, were introduced in the nineteen-forties.

These teaching aids quickly began to capture the market, and are now exported to over 120 countries around the world.

The product range was expanded again in the nineteen-thirties to include dental consumables with the development and fabrication of frasaco Strip Crowns. This item has sustained its market position to the present day, and thanks to repeated recipe modification, is still in great demand as an aid for use in temporary restorations.

The range of consumable materials has been successfully expanded to make frasaco a recognised supplier in yet another market segment. Other successful business lines outside the dental sector, such as orthopaedic articles and high-quality technical parts, are not to be mentioned in detail here. This has been a short excursion to the historical roots that make us today’s market leader in our dedication to dental education and dental consumables, a success story which spans frasaco’s ninety year history.

Top quality for maximum reality

In our family business, which boasts fifty motivated and dedicated employees, complemented by a globally operating sales team, we lay emphasis on responsibility and dependability for our customers, employees and partner.

Our company headquarters are currently situated on an approximately 5000 m² estate, providing a respectable capacity for future enlargement – a sign that frasaco continues to focus on growth. The architectural beauty of the company building combines ideal modern ambiance with newest technology. A quality management (QM) certificate according to ISO 9001 affirms frasaco’s competence in this area, and is an important part of the company’s management structure.

The quality of our products meets the high demands set by our customers, seconded only by the qualified professional support and advice provided by our team of employees.

We boast a successful relationship with the dental traders and our products are available exclusively through them.

At frasaco, customer satisfaction is our top priority. We achieve this by providing innovative products and by seeking the dialogue with users and dental traders. This exchange of information allows us to recognise potential for improvement and to implement this in our developments. In this way, we help our customers to success with progressive products that are user-friendly and economical. Moreover, coordinated systems further simplify operation. Marketability, far-sighted conceptual design and flexibility in implementation provide the basis for a real partnership with the operator.

Over the last few years, the range of products has been consequently expanded. Independent research and development brings forward innovative, high-quality products, designed and produced for the dental sector.

Joint strength

Step by step, the production programme has been expanded, always coherent with medical progress. Today’s product range includes complete dental training systems, i.e. artificial patients, consisting of head with masticatory loading simulator, upper torso, and an attachment for the laboratory workbench or for the dentist’s chair.

Various dental models are available for use with this system. Now students of dentistry can simulate all conceivable diagnostic and therapeutic situations under life-like conditions. Teeth with anatomical build-up of enamel, dentine and dental pulp realistically demonstrate preparation margins; partially edentulous dental models are suitable for fixed or removable restorations, edentulous models for complete dentures.

Devitalisation and endodontic treatment can be practiced on teeth with built-in root canal.

Variations for paedodontia and geriodontia concentrate on age specific peculiarities during treatment. Specialised surgical models are available for practice in local anaesthetics, oral surgery, professional extraction of teeth, and the increasingly important area of implantology. This means the student must successfully absolve rigorous training of the necessary treatment steps on the artificial patient, before treating a real-case patient.
